Hook Mountain State Park protects a dramatic stretch of Hudson River cliffs near Nyack.

Its rocky slopes and viewpoints offer a landscape-focused destination on the river’s western shore.
Choose a route from current official maps and check trail access before setting out. The photograph shows the cliff-top landscape and river in November 2015 rather than today’s footing or vegetation. Some routes are steep or exposed, so match the walk to your ability and keep back from edges. Protect sensitive habitat and do not treat viewpoints as permission to enter closed areas.
