Johnstown Inclined Plane connects the valley city with the hillside community of Westmont.

The large inclined cars and elevated route link an engineering landmark with the everyday geography of a town shaped by steep slopes and flooding.
The photograph shows an earlier view of the incline. The operator announced reopening in September 2026 after extensive work; check the current service schedule, fares and accessible boarding arrangements before traveling. Do not assume past promotional free-ride periods still apply. Weather, maintenance and operational conditions can interrupt service, and groups require separate planning.
