Kalakaua Park provides a compact historic civic green in downtown Hilo.

Mature trees, memorial features and paths give it a gathering role within the older street network and make it a useful pause during a town-center walk.
Use current county information for park access and any announced activities. The photograph shows a park view toward the historic post-office building nearby rather than permission to enter that building. Stay on public routes, respect memorials and planted areas, and distinguish ordinary grounds access from special events or independently managed neighboring properties.
