Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area protects a varied landscape below Lewisville Lake Dam.

Trails pass through prairie, woodland, and wetland habitats along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, giving visitors a close look at North Texas ecosystems. Birdwatching and guided nature programs add to the experience beyond a straightforward trail walk.
Check current trail conditions and dam-construction impacts before entering, as routes and facilities can close. This is a river and habitat destination, not a route to lake swimming access. Bring water, follow posted wildlife and trail rules, and confirm gate hours, entry fees, and any reservation requirements for guided activities.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
