Mount Auburn Cemetery combines a historic burial ground with a carefully developed landscape across Cambridge and Watertown.

Winding paths, trees, monuments, and changes in elevation reward a thoughtful walk, while the site's history helps explain the development of the American garden cemetery. The photograph shows the Nathaniel Bowditch monument within the grounds.
Respect funerals, mourners, and areas reserved for cemetery operations. Check current gate hours and visitor rules before arriving; pedestrian entrances can have different hours from the main gate.
