MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation
- Museum
- Regional draw
- Santa Barbara
A hands-on Santa Barbara science museum where visitors test ideas, make things, and explore interactive exhibits near the waterfront.

MOXI brings hands-on science and creative experimentation to lower State Street in Santa Barbara. The museum encourages visitors to learn by trying things, making changes, and seeing what happens. It is especially suited to families looking for an active museum outing, with opportunities for adults and children to investigate together.
Interactive exhibits are spread through the building, and the Innovation Workshop adds a making-and-designing dimension to the visit. The rooftop Sky Garden brings exploration outdoors and opens up views across the surrounding city. Rather than following a strict sequence, leave time for children to return to an experiment, compare results, or spend longer with an activity that catches their attention.
The museum is at 125 State Street, close to the train station and within walking distance of the waterfront. It recommends nearby city parking lots for visitors arriving by car. Check the current admission calendar for holiday and special-event exceptions, as well as any workshop or family program you hope to join. Accessibility and sensory-friendly visit information is available through the museum’s official site.
