Old Sacramento Historic District preserves a riverfront streetscape associated with the city’s Gold Rush growth and its role in western transport and commerce.

Historic buildings and public streets provide a setting for exploring connections with riverboats, railways, the Pony Express and the transcontinental telegraph.
Walk the public district at your own pace, checking current access where boardwalks and streets meet. Museums, underground tours, railway experiences and businesses have separate opening times and ticket arrangements. The California State Railroad Museum is an independently visited attraction within this wider setting; a district walk does not include its admission.
Visitor details reviewed October 27, 2026. Consult primary place information for background, and confirm current access and operating arrangements before visiting. View on OpenStreetMap.
