Owen Conservation Park protects prairie, oak savanna and woodland on a hill above Madison’s west side.

Trails and stormwater ponds create opportunities for observing plants, birds and the gradual restoration of a former farm landscape.
The photograph shows a northern cardinal recorded in the park during an earlier visit; wildlife sightings vary. Dogs are prohibited in Madison conservation parks. Use designated trails, leave plants and animals undisturbed and check current notices before travelling after storms or for winter activities. Skiing depends on seasonal grooming and conditions. Confirm the entrance, route length and natural surfaces suitable for your group before setting out.
