Petersburg National Battlefield preserves landscapes associated with the long Civil War siege of Petersburg.

Interpreted routes, earthworks and visitor facilities help explain the campaign across several geographically separate areas.
Begin planning with the National Park Service’s current visitor information and choose the unit you intend to explore. The Eastern Front visitor center and other sites have different access arrangements. The photograph shows the Dictator artillery display during an earlier visit, not the entire battlefield or a current demonstration. Stay on authorized trails and protect historic earthworks; nearby military and private properties are outside ordinary visitor access.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
