Seamen’s Bethel on Johnny Cake Hill in New Bedford connects the city’s maritime history with a place of worship and remembrance.

Its memorials and association with the whaling community offer a more personal perspective on lives spent at sea.
Check the Port Society’s current visiting arrangements before arriving, since services, weddings and other events can affect access. Take time with the memorial inscriptions and the stories attached to the building. Treat the interior as a sacred space as well as a historic attraction, and confirm group-tour arrangements separately.
