Sinnissippi Mounds preserve an Indigenous burial landscape within Sinnissippi Park near Sterling.

The surviving earthworks provide an important connection with the area’s long history before the modern city and riverfront recreation grounds developed.
The photograph shows a grassy mound during an earlier visit. Explore only from authorized park paths and interpretive areas, treating the site as a place of cultural and spiritual significance. Do not climb, dig or disturb the earthworks or collect objects. Check park access notices before travelling, and use the park district’s current information to locate the historic area within the larger grounds.
