South San Francisco Hillside Sign
- Historic landmark
- Regional draw
- South San Francisco
The South San Francisco hillside sign is a prominent historic landmark spelling out the city’s industrial identity above the surrounding neighborhoods.

Its large white letters connect the landscape with an earlier period of civic promotion and manufacturing growth.
Use current city information to choose a public viewpoint or an authorized Sign Hill trail. The photograph shows the hillside lettering from a distance rather than a walkable route through the letters themselves. Protect the hill’s sensitive grassland habitat and stay on designated paths. Nearby residential streets and private property are not additional visitor access points.
