Thomas Hill Standpipe

  • Historic water tower
  • Regional draw
  • Bangor

Thomas Hill Standpipe is a distinctive Bangor landmark that encloses a working water-storage tank within a tall wooden structure.

Thomas Hill Standpipe

Its late-nineteenth-century design combines civic engineering with an architectural presence visible from the surrounding neighborhood.

The water district currently says all tour dates are cancelled for planned upkeep and repairs. Plan only permitted exterior viewing and confirm the latest access information before traveling. Do not enter work areas or expect the observation promenade to be open. The photograph shows the tower exterior; nearby homes and operating water infrastructure require visitors to keep access clear and respect posted boundaries.
