Living near Terrace Park, Sioux Falls: rentals, swimming and transit

Terrace Park, Sioux Falls: North Covell Avenue rentals, conflicting utility terms, Covell Lake facilities, seasonal swimming, Green Line stops and nearby errands.

Terrace Park’s residential streets surround Covell Lake and the historic park northwest of Downtown Sioux Falls. North Covell Avenue apartments sit near the park, while the aquatic center faces West Madison Street. Green Line buses serve the Madison and West Avenue corridor, with a different route back toward Downtown.

North Covell Avenue rentals have garages, but utility descriptions differ

Tzadik’s Lake Park apartments are at 1000–1020 North Covell Avenue, beside the park area. The operator’s property overview lists one- and two-bedroom homes, on-site laundry and garages rented separately. A one-bedroom, one-bath listing for the same address gives a floor area of 750 square feet, allows cats and small dogs, and lists garages available. Its contact is 605-277-7605.

The one-bedroom listing says tenants are responsible for all utilities, while the general Lake Park page says water, sewer and trash are paid by the operator. Those published descriptions conflict. For a lease quotation, request the specific unit’s utility charges and garage rent in writing. The published rental details were checked October 22, 2026.

Covell Lake, gardens and two powered shelters share the public park

Terrace Park’s listed address is 1100 West 4th Street. Around Covell Lake, the City lists fishing access, an accessible walking trail, Shoto-Teien Japanese Gardens, a bandshell, playgrounds, basketball and the Frank L. Boyce Miracle League ballfield. Regular park hours are 5 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.

The west picnic shelter is 25 by 40 feet; the upper shelter is 20 by 30 feet. Both are listed as accessible and have electricity. The park page links online reservations, and the wedding venue has a separate information page. The City’s neighborhood account identifies the park’s 2015 National Register listing; that designation does not establish the status of nearby houses.

The outdoor aquatic center has a separate entrance and season

Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center is at 1001 West Madison Street. It has drop slides, a body and tube slide, and a zero-depth entry with play features. On October 22, 2026, the City’s facility page marked it closed for the season. The park’s daily opening hours do not mean the pool is open.

The City describes the outdoor aquatic season as generally May–August, with dates set each year. Summer passes run May 1–Labor Day and include Midco Aquatic Center as well as outdoor facilities when they are operating. The pass period therefore extends beyond some outdoor pools’ opening dates.

Green Line uses different stops on its outward and return journeys

The Green Line connects Downtown’s bus terminal with the Premier Center, Southeast Tech and Jefferson High School. Near the park, the outward journey has a stop at West Avenue/Madison on the northwest corner. It then follows Madison Street west past Canaries Stadium.

The return toward Downtown lists Madison/Western on the southwest corner at McCart Park and a south-side mid-block stop by Canaries Stadium, then continues via Bailey Street and Brookings Street. It is not a simple two-way service along every part of Madison Street. The route page supplies a timetable and live bus tracker.
