About Downtown Neighborhood
Downtown Fargo brings Broadway apartments and shops together with the Red River waterfront and Island Park. Daily’s Market supplies convenience groceries, Red River Market is seasonal, and Route 18 provides an hourly connection toward Essentia and Osgood.
Broadway apartments and the riverfront
Downtown Fargo combines the Broadway commercial streets, apartments and the Red River waterfront. The City describes detached houses around its fringes and a wider mix of housing in the interior. Island Park extends the neighborhood’s outdoor space south of Main Avenue.
That geography gives a Broadway address a different set of nearby destinations from a home near Island Park: the former puts shops and the seasonal market close together, while the latter sits beside a larger park with paths and play areas.
Cityscapes: garage parking and a studio kitchen exception
Cityscapes Plaza, at 630 1st Avenue North, lists heated underground parking available, controlled access, two elevators and on-site management. Its studio apartments do not have dishwashers, although the building’s broader amenity list includes them.
Laundry is less clear-cut: the operator describes hookups in most apartments and coin-operated laundry on each floor, while also listing in-unit washers and dryers. A supplied machine therefore needs confirmation for the offered apartment. The site does not publish a garage price on its amenities page.
Convenience groceries on Broadway; a seasonal farmers market
Daily’s Market at 216 Broadway North carries groceries, coffee, snacks and household essentials as a convenience store. Its posted hours are 8 a.m.–7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.–4 p.m. weekends.
Red River Market adds a seasonal food-shopping stop at Broadway Square, 201 Broadway. Its published 2026 season runs July 11–October 31, with regular Saturday hours of 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The market matches SNAP spending up to $15 per market day at its information booth; it is not a year-round grocery option.
An hourly bus toward Essentia and Osgood
The Ground Transportation Center is the downtown transfer hub. Route 18 links it with Essentia Hospital, Hornbacher’s Osgood, Microsoft and Walmart, with departures from the GTC every 60 minutes. That interval matters for a hospital or southwest Fargo commute even when a home is close to downtown stops.
MATBUS operates Monday through Saturday, with no Sunday service. Transfers are valid for 90 minutes; cash riders must request the transfer when boarding. Sunday work or shopping therefore needs another transport arrangement.
Island Park for everyday outdoor space
Island Park, at 302 7th Street South, has playgrounds for ages 2–5 and 5–12, recreational trails, basketball and tennis courts, grills and picnic tables. Its shelter is reservable through the Park District.
The park also has a pool and winter ski facilities, whose operation is seasonal. The playgrounds include facilities for both preschool and school-age children.
