Library Park, groceries, residential parking and nearby Downtown connections
About Old Town
Old Town’s residential setting around Library Park connects to groceries on South College Avenue and the shops and public spaces of nearby Downtown. Old Town Library provides evening study space, while bus access and residential parking permits shape a household’s daily travel. Lee Martinez Park and the Poudre River Trail are destinations to the northwest.
Residential parking permits
For a home in a Residential Parking Permit Program zone, the city lists annual resident permits at $20 for the first vehicle and $40 for the second. Applications require vehicle registration and a driver’s license; a lease can establish residency when those documents do not show the current address.
Eligibility follows the RP3 zone map, and a permit applies to legal spaces within its designated zone. Parking Services is at 144 North Mason Street, Suite 5; call 970-221-6617.
Groceries and an evening library visit
Lucky’s Market at 425 South College Avenue is a grocery option south of the Downtown core. The store publishes regular hours of 7 a.m.–9 p.m. daily; its local number is 970-482-0388. That supplies a later grocery stop than the library’s closing time on Friday and Saturday.
Old Town Library at 201 Peterson Street sits on the east side of Library Park. It opens 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and noon–5 p.m. Sunday. It offers computers, Wi-Fi, printing, scanning and free reservable study rooms for one to eight people. Holiday closures are listed separately.
Hospital and campus trips by bus
The library identifies Routes 5 and 18 for bus access. In Transfort’s current directory, Route 5 connects Downtown with Lemay, Poudre Valley Hospital and Foothills Mall; Route 18 serves Whedbee, Lesher Middle School and Midpoint. MAX serves the Mason corridor toward CSU and the South Transit Center, so a campus journey starts west of the library setting.
Transfort remains fare-free, but the August 2026 network changes ended Sunday service. A Sunday library or grocery visit therefore needs another way there. The linked route directory carries individual timetables and the bus tracker for weekday and Saturday travel.
Lee Martinez Park to the northwest
Lee Martinez Park at 600 North Sherwood Street offers a playground, sport courts and direct access to the Poudre River Trail. Its playground includes a chair zipline and poured-in-place surfacing. The city lists daily park hours of 5 a.m.–11 p.m.; some restrooms are seasonal.
There are parking lots off Sherwood Street near The Farm and off Elm Street east of the tennis courts. The Farm is a separate city attraction on the west side of the park, with its own visitor information. Pickleball uses the basketball court and requires players to bring their own net.
