Residential subdivisions, a shared pool and Amesbury Lake Park
About Amesbury Lake
Amesbury Lake brings together residential subdivisions between 139th and 143rd, Quivira and Pflumm. A shared HOA pool, the public Amesbury Lake Park and exterior-project rules shape life here; Blue Valley school journeys depend on the home’s exact address.
Several subdivisions around one community
Amesbury Lake lies between 139th and 143rd streets, Quivira Road and Pflumm Road. The homes association says construction began in 1997 with Brook Haven, Grayson Mills and Windsor Ridge; Quailwood by the Lake joined in 2013. It describes 365 homes sharing common grounds and a pool facility with bathrooms, a children’s pool area and parking.
The entrance at 141st and Pflumm has paired fountains. The HOA’s map distinguishes the component subdivisions and also labels Willowdale and Maple Glen. For a home advertised simply as “Amesbury Lake,” the subdivision and recorded association documents establish which obligations and amenity rights go with the lot.
Exterior work needs its own approval request
Amesbury Lake’s October 2025 architectural guide requires requests before exterior changes begin and recommends submitting at least a week ahead, allowing time for questions or different selections. Requests need the relevant materials, colors and photos.
A repaint needs the color names and numbers for the main house, trim and garage doors, even when using a previously approved color. A composite-deck proposal needs the brand and color, while a change to the deck’s size or layout also needs review. The public document page links the restrictions and bylaws alongside these guidelines.
A public park along 143rd Street
Amesbury Lake Park, at 12500 W. 143rd Street, is a 38.7-acre city park with a playground, fishing, a loop trail and a bike/hike-trail connection. The city lists opening hours of 5 a.m.–10 p.m. This public green space offers an everyday outdoor destination alongside the residential subdivisions; the homes association’s shared pool is a separate amenity.
Blue Valley school assignment and bus eligibility
The HOA identifies Blue Valley as the school district. The district’s school locator needs the exact home address selected from the suggested matches; the neighborhood name alone does not establish a particular elementary, middle or high school.
For 2026–27, Blue Valley does not provide ordinary bus service to middle or high school students living less than 2.5 miles from school. Elementary students inside that distance can use paid service; free busing generally starts at 2.5 miles, with separate qualifying exceptions. Distance is measured by the most direct route from the home. Transportation questions go to 913-239-4102, and bus-route or fee questions to Durham at 913-681-2492.
The 151st Street library and its October closure
Blue Valley Library, at 9000 W. 151st Street southeast of Amesbury Lake, has public computers, printing and study space. Its drive-through window handles holds pickup during opening hours. As of October 24, 2026, the branch announces a construction closure for October 26–November 1. Check its current notice before arranging a visit or holds pickup during that period.
