Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area protects a tidal-marsh landscape at the mouth of the Housatonic River in Milford.

Its creeks and open wetland habitat provide a distinctive coastal nature setting.
Use current Connecticut DEEP maps and rules to identify authorized access and seasonal hunting arrangements. This is a managed tidal wetland rather than a developed park with unrestricted walking across the marsh. The photograph shows the habitat from an earlier viewpoint, not a marked trail or a guarantee of safe paddling conditions. Respect habitat closures and changing tides.
