Headlands Beach State Park protects a Lake Erie shoreline landscape in the Mentor and Painesville Township area.

Its broad beach setting offers a substantial outdoor destination on Ohio’s northern coast.
Check current state-park notices and beach conditions before travelling. The photograph shows the shore with Fairport Harbor’s west breakwater light in the distance during an earlier visit, not the separate hilltop lighthouse museum. Keep to authorized beach and path areas and protect adjoining dune habitat. Water conditions can change quickly, so confirm current access and any planned swimming activity before entering the lake.
