James A. Garfield National Historic Site preserves the former president’s home and associated grounds in Mentor.

The house and museum interpretation connect Garfield’s family life, political career and presidential campaign with the surviving historic property.
Check current National Park Service hours, house-tour arrangements and seasonal notices before arriving. Access to the historic interior is organized separately from exterior grounds and visitor-center areas. The photograph shows the house exterior rather than a current tour group or unrestricted room access. Allow time for the interpretation and use the designated public approaches around the historic landscape.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
