Jug Handle State Natural Reserve

Jug Handle State Natural Reserve combines a sheltered-looking coastal cove with a landscape of terraces and distinctive plant communities near Caspar.

Its beach and inland ecological staircase offer different ways to experience the Mendocino coast.
Check the reserve’s current trail map and notices before choosing between the beach approach and a longer inland walk. Coastal cliffs, surf and uneven trails call for attention to conditions. The photograph shows Jug Handle Beach rather than the entire reserve. The property lies between Fort Bragg and Mendocino, outside Fort Bragg’s town center.
