Van Damme State Park connects a coastal beach with a wooded inland landscape at Little River, south of Mendocino.

Fern-rich routes and different plant communities give the park a broader character than its shoreline entrance alone.
Consult the state park’s current map and notices before choosing a trail or coastal activity. Camping and organized uses have separate arrangements, and weather can affect the creek valley and beach. The photograph shows Little River Beach at the park’s coastal edge rather than the inland trails or a guaranteed safe place to enter the ocean.
