Maricara Natural Area protects a compact woodland in southwest Portland.

Douglas firs, maples, small streams and wetland habitat give neighborhood walkers a quiet forest setting within the surrounding residential streets.
The photograph shows the signed natural-area entrance during an earlier visit. Use designated pedestrian trails and respect habitat-restoration areas, as the natural surfaces can become wet or muddy. Keep clear of adjoining private properties and choose an authorized neighborhood access point. Check city notices before planning a visit, and confirm route conditions and accessibility requirements rather than expecting paved recreation facilities throughout.
