Mounds State Park near Anderson protects earthworks created by Indigenous communities alongside a wooded recreation landscape.

Interpretive displays and trails provide context for understanding the site’s ceremonial significance and its relationship with the surrounding environment.
Begin with the current park map and interpretation rather than approaching the mounds simply as landscape features. Stay on designated routes and do not climb or disturb protected earthworks. Check day-use fees, trail conditions and program schedules before visiting. Camping and guided activities have separate arrangements, and seasonal operations can affect which facilities are available.
