San Diego Model Railroad Museum presents detailed miniature railways in Balboa Park’s Casa de Balboa building.

Layouts and exhibits explore railroad landscapes, engineering and model-making, with different scales revealing the craftsmanship involved in recreating real and imagined rail operations.
Use the lower-level museum entrance at 1649 El Prado and check current opening days before traveling. Tickets are date-specific when purchased online, and group reservations have separate requirements. Balboa Park parking has paid and resident-discount arrangements. An elevator in the building lobby provides an alternative to stairs.
