Thornwood Park in Wilmette provides an outdoor neighborhood recreation setting with lawns, trees and play areas.

The park district also uses part of the space for weather-dependent winter skating when conditions allow.
Use the district’s current park map and posted rules to plan a visit. The photograph shows the actual park landscape. Outdoor ice is seasonal and depends on sustained freezing weather; an autumn park visit does not include an operating rink. Check status before travelling for skating or hockey. Organized sports, group activities and ordinary playground access can have different requirements, so confirm the facilities you need.
Visitor details reviewed October 26, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
