Washington Park combines a historic designed landscape with substantial recreation space in Milwaukee.

Originally known as West Park, it was developed with plans from Frederick Law Olmsted’s firm and remains an important neighborhood gathering place.
The photograph shows the actual park landscape. Follow current county maps and notices for walking routes, play areas and reserved facilities. Concerts, environmental programs and individual buildings have separate opening arrangements. The park’s former role as a zoo belongs to its history rather than a current animal attraction. Respect booked gatherings, share public paths and check seasonal services before relying on water or restroom facilities.
