Washington Highlands Historic District preserves an early planned residential subdivision in Wauwatosa.

Landscaped streets and houses from the early twentieth century occupy former Pabst family farmland, illustrating a distinctive stage of Milwaukee-area suburban development.
The photograph shows actual homes and streets within the district. Use the state historic-register description to plan a walk from public sidewalks, looking at the relationship between architecture, planting and the subdivision’s street pattern. Most houses remain private residences. Designation does not include interior admission or access to gardens, so keep driveways and entrances clear and respect residents while photographing.
