For repeated airport trips or downtown shows, begin with Downtown addresses near the Green Line and the county arts venues. If Sugar House Park visits and 2100 South errands anchor your routine, start with Sugar House. The two areas have different rail connections and building charges; the examples below explain what changes the rental shortlist.
This guide uses Liberty Sky and Sugar House Apartments by Urbana as named rental examples. Their published terms were checked October 20, 2026; they do not establish current vacancies or typical rents for either neighborhood.

Build the monthly total before choosing a rental
At 151 South State Street, Liberty Sky’s cost guide adds a $125 monthly community fee and a $99 technology fee to base rent. That is $224 each month before utilities and other applicable charges. A listed $15 insurance-waiver charge is removed when a renter provides proof of their own coverage. The parking estimator mixes regular prices and concessions, so an itemized lease quote is more useful than the advertised parking promotion.
At 2057 South 1200 East, Sugar House Apartments by Urbana lists studios through two-bedroom homes with washers and dryers, plus a carport and controlled-access garage. That supplies a layout and laundry starting point; it does not give an all-inclusive monthly price. A quote for either building should show base rent, recurring charges, utilities, parking and any pet costs separately.
Two pets can change the move-in budget
For two pets at Liberty Sky, the published terms add up to $800 in one-time pet fees, $400 in refundable pet deposits and $90 in monthly pet rent. Breed and weight restrictions apply. At Urbana, the listed two-pet limit is 65 pounds per pet; two pets produce $600 in one-time fees and $70 in recurring pet rent. Other lease charges remain additional.
An airport trip and a streetcar trip start differently
The airport’s public-transportation guide places the Green Line station outside the terminal at ground level on the east side, reached through door 1A. A downtown home near an airport-bound Green Line platform has a different rail starting point from a Sugar House home near Route 720, the S-Line between Fairmont and Central Pointe. The streetcar is a separate service; include the onward rail or bus connection in a Sugar House airport itinerary.
For an address near Highland Drive, the extension project’s fall 2027 service target belongs to future access. Fairmont remains the current eastern terminus. The construction page checked October 20 lists overnight Highland Drive closures and work on Simpson Avenue; it is the useful link for changing access during a viewing or move.
Use the fare benefit that fits the trip
UTA’s Free Fare Zone helps with short downtown bus and TRAX trips only when both endpoints stay inside its mapped boundary. Crossing the boundary needs paid fare, and FrontRunner is excluded. Regular local fares are $2.50 for a two-hour transfer window or $5 for a day pass; regular FAREPAY spending is capped at $5 per day and $20 per week on local services, according to UTA’s current fares.
University of Utah students, faculty and staff should use the UCard pass instructions: the benefit includes bus, express bus, TRAX, FrontRunner, S-Line and UTA On Demand, with ski and paratransit excluded. For an evening performance, an eligible same-day ArtTix ticket covers UTA travel to participating county arts venues, including the Rose. The city’s Hive Pass page confirms that program is no longer offered; older $42-per-month advice is obsolete.
Try the routine you would keep after moving
Downtown, Harmons City Creek at 135 East 100 South opens 7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily, including Sunday. In Sugar House, Sprague Library at 2131 South 1100 East stays open until 8 p.m. Monday–Thursday and closes Sunday. Those schedules give a working household different evening and weekend options.
Sugar House Park opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. in May–October, or 9 p.m. in November–April; dogs stay on leash. For downtown performances, the county’s transit instructions identify Gallivan Plaza on the Green and Blue lines for the Rose.
