About Central West End

Central West End daily trips extend from North Euclid’s library and shops to West Pine groceries and the medical-campus transit facilities farther south. Housing includes apartments along Kingshighway, while MetroLink connects the area with downtown and the airport.

Apartment layouts along Kingshighway

Parc Frontenac at 40 North Kingshighway lists studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Its published plans illustrate the range from compact studios to larger two-bedroom layouts within one building.

The operator notes that individual apartments can differ from representative plans in dimensions, appliances and finishes.

A grocery stop on West Pine

Whole Foods Market at 4577 West Pine Boulevard lists store hours of 8 a.m.–9 p.m. every day. That gives the neighborhood a daily grocery destination south of Lindell, separate from the shops farther north on Euclid.

Medical-campus rail and bus entrances

Metro lists the Central West End rail station at 420 South Euclid and the bus facility at 4510 Children’s Place. WashU Medicine identifies Central West End station as a stop within its medical campus. These facilities are south of the North Euclid shopping streets, and Metro lists no transit parking spaces here.

The Red Line serves downtown and Lambert Airport. During tunnel work described in the notice checked October 19, the Blue Line runs only between Forest Park and Shrewsbury after 6 p.m. Monday–Saturday. Travel through downtown during those periods uses the Red Line, with a transfer at Forest Park for the Blue Line corridor.

Schlafly Library stays open into the evening

Schlafly Library at 225 North Euclid Avenue provides meeting rooms, reservable computers, printing, Wi-Fi and bicycle racks. It opens 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday–Saturday and 1–5 p.m. Sunday.

North Euclid’s shops and bookstore

Euclid Avenue links Maryland Plaza, McPherson Avenue and Washington Avenue through a corridor of shops, galleries and restaurants. Left Bank Books at 399 North Euclid sells new and used books and hosts author events.
