Market-district apartments, residential streets and Red Line access
About Ohio City
Ohio City combines the West 25th Street market district with residential streets farther west. Bridge Avenue’s Victorian houses, newer apartment buildings and the Red Line station on Lorain Avenue give a home search several distinct starting points.
Housing beyond West 25th Street
Ohio City combines historic and modern housing west of the Cuyahoga River. The Bridge Avenue Historic District contains Victorian houses, giving a home search a residential setting beyond the market blocks.
On the West 25th Street frontage, shops and restaurants share the immediate setting with housing. A viewing there can include the entrance, bedroom-window position and resident-parking arrangement; Bridge Avenue offers a separate residential street setting within the same neighborhood.
Market days and evening groceries
West Side Market at 1979 West 25th Street has regular hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sunday. It is normally closed Tuesday and Thursday. A shop built around its food stalls needs a different plan on those two days.
Dave’s Market & eatery Ohio City is at 2700 Carroll Avenue, with grocery hours posted as 8 a.m.–9 p.m. daily. It provides a later supermarket destination than the market hall. The store’s liquor hours are separate; these regular schedules were checked October 18, 2026.
Red Line entrance and connections
W. 25–Ohio City station’s entrance is at 2350 Lorain Avenue, on the south side of the street opposite West Side Market. The Red Line serves Tower City Downtown and Cleveland Hopkins Airport. RTA lists an elevator between street level and the platform, fare machines and bicycle racks.
An adult cash fare is $2.50 for each bus or train boarded. A $5 daily pass permits unlimited rides until 3 a.m. the next day, so a bus-to-train trip paid separately in cash already reaches that price in one direction. Mobile-ticket passengers must scan the validator. Fare information was checked October 18, 2026.
Carnegie West on Fulton Road
Carnegie West Library stands at 1900 Fulton Road in a triangular park setting. The 1910 building’s classical and Renaissance details give this part of the neighborhood a civic landmark away from the market hall.
West Side Market’s historic hall
West Side Market opened in November 1912. Hubbell and Benes designed its vaulted tile ceiling and clock tower. The illuminated hall appears in the neighborhood photograph, taken in September 2014.
