Residential streets around Lincoln Park, converted buildings and the Towpath

About Tremont

Tremont has Victorian houses, duplexes, apartments and newer homes south of Downtown. Lincoln Park anchors its central residential streets, while the Towpath and Abbey Overlook follow a different setting toward the river valley.

Houses, duplexes and converted buildings

Tremont West describes Victorian and modern homes, duplexes and apartments. Its resident directory includes the Fairmont Creamery and Wagner Awning buildings among apartment resources, giving a rental search named buildings to investigate alongside individual houses.

The former Lincoln Park Baths is another residential conversion: its public-bathhouse and recreation-center use ended before a conversion completed in 1996. Its stucco facade, ornamental reliefs and entrance passage appear in the dated July 2018 photograph.

A supermarket trip toward Ohio City

One named supermarket option outside Tremont’s Lincoln Park core is Dave’s Market & eatery Ohio City, at 2700 Carroll Avenue. Its published grocery schedule is 8 a.m.–9 p.m. daily, with separate liquor hours. This is a distinct errand from the restaurants and smaller businesses around the park.

West Side Market is another food-shopping destination at 1979 West 25th Street, but its regular schedule closes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and finishes earlier than Dave’s. The two destinations are useful to distinguish when planning an after-work shop. Hours were checked October 18, 2026.

Reaching the Ohio City rail station

The Red Line entrance at W. 25–Ohio City is at 2350 Lorain Avenue, south of the street opposite West Side Market. Lincoln Park sits between West 11th and West 14th streets and Kenilworth and Starkweather avenues; the rail entrance is a separate destination from this central park setting.

RTA lists an elevator between the street and platform, fare machines and bicycle racks at the station. Passengers relying on step-free access can use the operator’s elevator-status information alongside the rail timetable.

Lincoln Park and the Towpath

Lincoln Park provides an eight-acre green space among the central residential streets. Abbey Park, at Abbey Avenue and West 19th Street, adds a playground in another part of the neighborhood. These are distinct local park destinations.

The Towpath offers a longer walking and cycling corridor toward the river valley. Abbey Overlook at 1502 Abbey Avenue is a skyline stop with views toward Downtown’s towers and bridges.

Finding the right block club

Tremont West organizes block clubs by parts of the neighborhood, including Central Tremont, Auburn–Lincoln Park and North of Literary. Its resident page links to a map and the individual groups, which discuss local development, programs and neighborhood initiatives.

This gives a new resident a route into a smaller local group rather than only a citywide contact. The organization also describes a neighborhood development process for new housing and commercial projects, useful background when construction plans form part of a purchase decision.
