About Goodpasture Island

Goodpasture Island combines residential streets and apartment communities near Goodpasture Loop with Delta Ponds, the Willamette’s east-bank greenway and the Valley River Center shopping area. Bus-loop direction, supplied laundry and parking arrangements shape everyday routines here.

Residential Goodpasture Loop and the Valley River shopping area

The City of Eugene describes Goodpasture Island as the area south of Randy Pape Beltline between the Willamette River and Delta Highway. Valley River Center and other commercial uses occupy its southern portion, while the northern area has medium- and higher-density residential development. Delta Ponds and the river’s east-bank greenway are major public outdoor spaces in this setting.

The City created the Goodpasture Island neighborhood association area in 2011 when it divided the former Cal Young Neighborhood Association into three neighborhoods.

An apartment example with supplied laundry and separate parking options

River Terrace, at 1150 Darlene Lane, offers apartments and townhomes with full-size, side-by-side washers and dryers. Its published apartment features include an all-electric range, dishwasher, patio or balcony, outdoor storage and individual heat controls in bedrooms and living areas.

The property lists assigned surface parking, covered spaces and detached garages as separate parking types. Its dog-and-cat policy allows up to two pets, with no weight limit but breed restrictions, and publishes a $400 pet deposit and $30 monthly pet rent.

Delta Ponds has a completed loop, with high-water interruptions

Delta Ponds is a City-owned, 150-acre natural area of ponds, channels and wetlands near Goodpasture Island Road and Alexander Loop. The City lists nature trails, a bicycle/pedestrian path, parking, restrooms and viewpoints. It describes the site as habitat for salmon, pond turtles, herons, beavers and other wildlife.

The City says construction of the barrier-free 1.4-mile loop was completed in December 2024. It also warns that sections may become temporarily inaccessible during high water because the ponds remain connected to the Willamette River.

Routes 66 and 67 make opposite loops through Valley River Center

LTD Route 66 leaves Eugene Station, crosses Ferry Street Bridge and reaches Valley River Center Station at Bay B before continuing north along Goodpasture Island Road toward Delta Oaks. Route 67 reaches the neighborhood after its Coburg Road and Delta Oaks portion, serves Valley River Center at Bay A, then returns toward Eugene Station via Country Club Road. The route numbers therefore describe different directions around the loop.

LTD identifies the Valley River Center park-and-ride in the mall lot southwest of Regal Cinemas, served by both routes. Its published rule is free, first-come parking during operating hours, with no overnight parking. The route pages carry current schedules and game-day or construction detours.

Mall shopping and a Green Acres Road grocery destination

Valley River Center’s published regular hours are Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–7 p.m., with individual store and restaurant hours varying. The mall is the neighborhood’s large commercial destination and the location of its bus station.

For a separate grocery destination, Market of Choice’s Delta Oaks store is at 1060 Green Acres Road. The operator publishes daily hours of 7 a.m.–9 p.m. and lists produce, groceries, a deli kitchen, bakery, meat and seafood departments.

Rental, utility and library resources are covered by the city guide

The linked Eugene city research includes the City’s rental-screening charge limit and coverage lookup, EWEB account setup, current LTD fares and the addresses and hours of Downtown, Bethel and Sheldon libraries.

As checked October 22, 2026, the City’s Goodpasture Island Neighbors page lists the association as currently inactive and directs neighborhood questions to the City Neighborhoods Program at [email protected].
