About Heights

The Heights has older homes around Kavanaugh Boulevard’s shopping corridor, with Kroger on North Polk Street and Prospect Terrace Park on L Street. The Heights Kroger is a named METRO Connect destination, including on Sundays, but rides depend on the service-zone boundary. Nearby Cammack Village is a separate city with its own local government.

Kavanaugh’s shops and the surrounding residential streets

Kavanaugh Boulevard is the Heights’ main dining and shopping corridor. The residential setting extends beyond that strip: Little Rock’s preservation plan documents older Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Craftsman and Minimal Traditional homes in the Heights and neighboring Prospect Terrace. It also records replacement of some older houses with larger new homes.

North Polk groceries are a named microtransit destination

Kroger’s Heights store is at 1900 N. Polk Street and offers grocery pickup and a pharmacy. METRO specifically includes this store in its East Little Rock–Riverdale microtransit zone, along with the River Cities Travel Center downtown. Riders request a trip through METRO Connect; it does not follow a fixed bus timetable.

Posted zone hours are 5 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Friday and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday service is useful for eligible trips to the store, but the store’s inclusion does not establish pickup coverage at every Heights home. Both ends of a proposed trip need to fall within the operator’s service area.

Prospect Terrace Park has a playground and picnic space

Prospect Terrace Park, at 5400 L Street, is a four-acre neighborhood park in adjacent Prospect Terrace. The city lists a playground, pavilion, picnic tables and a grill, with open lawn and mature trees. It provides a small neighborhood outing away from Kavanaugh’s commercial strip.

Cammack Village has its own local government

Cammack Village is a separate city near the Heights, with its own City Hall at 2710 N. McKinley Street and a municipal contact number of 501-663-4593. Its website has separate sections for construction, rental property, sanitation and its zoning map.
