About Central Lawrenceville
Central Lawrenceville combines Butler Street’s commercial corridor with rowhouse streets and apartments around Willow Street. Bay 41 hosts a seasonal Tuesday farmers market near 41st Street, while Allegheny Cemetery’s Butler gate gives access to the wooded grounds near 47th Street.
Rowhouses and apartments around Willow Street
Lawrenceville’s residential design guide describes a common local house form: homes built to the front property line with a shared side wall. These rowhouses give a different living arrangement from a larger apartment building with shared facilities.
The Foundry at 41st, at 4107 Willow Street, offers studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Its operator lists in-unit laundry, an elevator and bicycle storage. Use of its surface lot or garage requires a signed parking addendum with management; parking is arranged as part of the tenancy.
Bay 41’s seasonal Tuesday shopping trip
The Lawrenceville Farmers Market operates at Bay 41, 115 41st Street. Its 2026 season runs Tuesdays, May 19–November 24, from 3–7 p.m., with produce, meat, bread, prepared food and pantry vendors.
This can be a regular afternoon food stop for nearby residents, although it does not provide daily or year-round grocery shopping. The organizer offers borrowed shopping carts from the information booth and says staff can help carry purchases to a car or bus stop.
Butler Street connects to downtown and Oakland
Route 91 follows the Butler Street corridor through the Strip District to downtown Pittsburgh. Route 93 provides a different connection, running via Children’s Hospital and Bloomfield to Oakland before continuing to Squirrel Hill and Hazelwood.
PRT’s combined timetable, effective June 28, 2026, marks Butler Street timepoints at 39th and 51st streets. Those are reference stops at either end of this part of the corridor; they are not the only places buses stop. Weekday and weekend tables are separate, with fewer Route 93 departures on weekends.
The cemetery gates set the hours for a grounds visit
Allegheny Cemetery’s Butler Street entrance is at 4734 Butler Street. The gatehouse photograph on this page dates from August 2009 and shows the stone building beside the entrance. This is the Butler Street approach to the grounds, rather than the separate Penn Avenue gates.
The Butler gate opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. from April through August, or 5 p.m. from September through March. A late afternoon visit therefore has a shorter window in autumn and winter. The office and mausoleums have their own schedules; the grounds hours do not imply access to those buildings.
