The Encinitas Boathouses bring an unusual maritime silhouette to a residential street near the coast.

Built as homes shaped like boats, the paired structures are a distinctive part of the city’s architectural heritage.
Enjoy the exteriors from lawful public street approaches and respect the occupants and surrounding properties. These are residences rather than a museum with ordinary walk-in admission. Check the preservation association for any specially organized heritage events. The photograph shows the two boat-shaped homes, with their exterior appearance forming the main interest of a brief street-side stop.
