Santa Barbara’s Moreton Bay Fig Tree is a distinctive living landmark near the railway station.

Its spreading canopy and substantial buttress roots connect a brief outdoor visit with the city’s horticultural history.
The photograph shows the tree during an earlier period. View it from designated public areas and respect protective barriers around the roots. Climbing, carving or walking across sensitive root surfaces can damage the tree. Check current city access notices before travelling, especially if work is taking place nearby. A visit can be combined with an authorized walk around the station and adjacent downtown streets.
Visitor details reviewed October 25, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
