New London Harbor Light marks the entrance to the Thames River with a white octagonal tower overlooking Long Island Sound.

The present tower dates from 1801 and remains an active navigation aid, combining a working maritime role with tours organized by the New London Maritime Society.
Visits to the tower require an arranged tour rather than unrestricted access through the neighboring residential properties. Check current booking instructions, age requirements and the suitability of the stair climb before reserving. The exterior photograph shows the lighthouse and keeper’s house; it does not imply that the grounds are freely open.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
