Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park preserves the stabilized ruins of a nineteenth-century girls’ school above Ellicott City.

The surviving architectural setting connects visitors with the history of education and the community’s earlier development.
Check Howard County’s current access and program arrangements before arrival at Church Road. The historical photograph shows the building before the greater decay and stabilization that produced today’s ruins; it is not a current intact-house view. Tours, performances and private events have separate schedules. Remain in authorized visitor areas and do not climb or disturb the surviving masonry.
Visitor details reviewed October 18, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
