Pulpit Rock is a natural stone landmark preserved within a residential street intersection in The Dalles.

Its association with early missionary preaching has made it part of the town’s historic landscape and local interpretation.
The image is a historic photograph of the actual rock before the surrounding streets took their present form. For a modern visit, use public pedestrian approaches near Court and East Twelfth streets and read available interpretation. Do not stand in traffic or assume the rock is a climbing feature. Allow a short exterior stop and check current street conditions; the site has no staffed visitor facility.
Visitor details reviewed October 26, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
