About Oceanfront
Oceanfront living includes apartment options inland from the beach as well as a regulated short-stay market. Arctic Avenue groceries, the area library and the Parks Avenue bus connection support everyday routines around the resort district.
Apartment layouts inland from the boardwalk
Aqua on 25th at 300 25th Street is one managed-apartment option in the Oceanfront district. Its operator publishes studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts. Two studio examples are listed at 437 and 705 square feet, illustrating the range within that building’s catalog.
Short-stay rules apply to a separate rental category
Virginia Beach defines a short-term rental as an entire dwelling rented for compensation for fewer than 30 consecutive days. Each address used for this purpose needs a zoning permit renewed annually.
Groceries and pharmacy on Arctic Avenue
Harris Teeter at 2800 Arctic Avenue provides a supermarket inland from the boardwalk. Its operator lists a pharmacy separately from the grocery operation, with its own contact number. The grocery store can be reached at 757-422-4595 and the pharmacy at 757-422-2154.
Library drive-up service starts before the building opens
Oceanfront Area Library is at 700 Virginia Beach Boulevard. Monday–Thursday, the building opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m.; drive-up service starts an hour earlier, at 9 a.m.
On Friday and Saturday, both services close at 5 p.m., with drive-up again beginning at 9 a.m. and the building at 10 a.m. Sunday is closed.
Route 20 and the seasonal resort buses
Route 20’s Oceanfront end is at Parks Avenue and 19th Street, linking the area with the Virginia Beach Boulevard corridor, Newtown Road rail station and Downtown Norfolk Transit Center. The published timetable provides separate weekday and weekend schedules.
HRT’s 2026 schedule gives Atlantic Avenue Route 30 daily service from May 10 through Neptune Festival. Routes 31 and 35 switch to Friday–Sunday service from September 11 through the festival. The published operating periods do not include winter.
