Elmwood Bidwell combines the green median and residential edges of Bidwell Parkway with the Elmwood Avenue shopping corridor. The farmers market adds seasonal Saturday food shopping, while Route 20 provides a Downtown bus connection. A home facing the parkway has a different approach to shops and stops from one directly on Elmwood.

Parkway frontage and Elmwood frontage make different home settings

The May 2020 parkway photograph shows houses facing Bidwell’s broad green median across the bordering road, with paths running through the trees. Elmwood Avenue adds a commercial frontage of shops, restaurants, salons and bars.

For a parkway-facing home, the street crossing is part of reaching the green space from the front door. For an Elmwood-facing apartment, locate the bedroom and entrance relative to the commercial premises; the photograph of a residential parkway does not describe every address in this wider planning neighborhood.

Daily groceries and the Saturday market serve different errands

The Elmwood Village Farmers Market takes place at Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway on Saturdays, with posted hours of 8 a.m.–1 p.m. from May through November. Vendors produce what they sell, and the range changes with the growing season.

Lexington Co-op at 807 Elmwood Avenue provides a separate daily grocery destination, with posted hours of 7 a.m.–11 p.m. An evening food shop therefore involves the store journey rather than the seasonal morning market; hours and market information were checked October 18, 2026.

Elmwood’s Route 20 links the corridor with Downtown

Route 20 Elmwood runs between Downtown Buffalo and Orchard Loop, continuing beyond Elmwood via Delaware Avenue and Sheridan Drive. The current timetable includes Elmwood/Delavan as a timepoint and distinguishes trips that start farther north from shorter variants.

From a home near Colonial Circle, the route to an Elmwood bus stop continues beyond the green median. A home at Elmwood and Bidwell starts closer to the corridor; use the stop in the correct direction for the return from Downtown.

Colonial Circle and Soldiers Circle anchor a longer green route

Colonial Circle joins Richmond Avenue and Bidwell Parkway, while Soldiers Circle brings Bidwell, Lincoln and Chapin parkways together. These connected public landscapes extend the local walk beyond the farmers-market corner.

Lincoln Parkway continues north from Soldiers Circle toward Delaware Park. Richmond Avenue connects Colonial, Ferry and Symphony circles, extending the network in the other direction through the residential streets.
