Living in Woodland Hills: Warner Center, Ventura Boulevard and daily costs

Woodland Hills rental examples, Warner Center shuttle connections, Ventura Boulevard buses, Topanga Village parking and useful local services.

Woodland Hills has two useful home-search anchors: Warner Center’s Oxnard Street and shopping district, and Ventura Boulevard farther south. A rental near the Warner Center shuttle can suit a G Line connection; a Ventura Boulevard address puts Line 150 and a different set of errands in the foreground. Neither location makes the whole neighborhood one walkable shopping district.

The examples below connect named buildings and destinations with the facilities, travel steps and charges a household will actually encounter. Sources were reviewed October 20, 2026. Building examples describe published features, not current vacancies or neighborhood-wide rent levels.

Rental layouts: Ventura Boulevard and Oxnard Street

Avalon Woodland Hills is at 20544 Ventura Boulevard. The operator describes one- and two-bedroom apartments, with loft layouts among the options. Renovated finishes such as hard flooring, stainless-steel appliances and quartz counters apply to selected homes. Furnished+ is a separate upgrade that includes furniture, utilities, Wi-Fi and cable TV with flexible lease terms. It is a different product from an ordinary unfurnished lease, so a furnished quote should be read with its included services.

Vale at The Alcove at 21300 Oxnard Street lists studios through three-bedroom homes, central air conditioning, a dishwasher and refrigerator. Its laundry rooms are shared community facilities; washer/dryer hookups are listed only in selected homes. Hookups do not mean machines are supplied. The community also lists coworking space, parcel lockers, bicycle storage, a dog run and a children’s play area. Its pet policy directs applicants to contact the property for terms at 747-263-0020.

Warner Center to the G Line: include the shuttle step

Metro Line 601 links Warner Center Transit Hub and De Soto/Burbank with Canoga station. The current timetable shows many daytime departures roughly 20 minutes apart. A short shuttle ride still involves the departure wait and a transfer at Canoga; a building described as being near Warner Center is not necessarily beside the busway platform. The route map also distinguishes late-night routing.

At Canoga, the G Line is the busway connection toward North Hollywood or Chatsworth. For a Hollywood or Downtown rail journey, North Hollywood is the B Line interchange. Treat the trip as a sequence—walk to the 601, reach Canoga, take the G Line, then transfer to rail if needed—rather than using only the busway running time as the commute estimate.

Ventura Boulevard: Line 150 follows a different corridor

Line 150 connects Ventura/Topanga Canyon with Canoga station and Chatsworth in one direction, and Tarzana and Encino in the other. Its timepoint table includes Ventura/Reseda and Zelzah/Ventura. A household based on Ventura Boulevard can therefore have a direct local bus for east–west errands while still needing another connection for destinations farther across Los Angeles. The linked schedule separates weekday and weekend service.

Topanga Village parking: garage and surface rates differ

Topanga Village is at 6256 Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Its garage has a free first hour; the posted rate is $3 for 1.5–2 hours and $5 for 2.5–3 hours, with a $14 maximum/lost-ticket charge. Surface parking has a separate schedule: $3.35 for 1.5 hours or $6.35 for three hours. Costco shoppers receive 2.5 hours free with a validated ticket. These are the operator’s published charges at review, so the parking choice can change the cost of the same shopping visit.

Cooling equipment and the electric account

Vale explicitly lists central air conditioning; appliance and finish packages differ among the Avalon homes. During a viewing, identify the installed cooling system and which rooms it serves; an amenity label alone does not give the household’s electric bill. For equipment a resident plans to purchase, LADWP’s Efficient Product Marketplace covers qualified room air conditioners and smart thermostats, among other categories.

The program requires an active residential electric account. A water-only account or house account is not eligible, and a landlord cannot claim for an apartment unless the electric account is in the landlord’s name at purchase. Products must meet the program rules and be installed at the account holder’s home. For a tenant buying an eligible appliance, the electric account and product rules determine eligibility. Permission to alter rental equipment is a separate matter.

Two local services away from the shopping trip

The Woodland Hills Recreation Center is at 5858 Shoup Avenue. The department listing gives regular center hours of 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Friday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday and holidays. Class schedules and enrollment availability are separate from those operating hours; the office contact for classes, leagues and camps is 818-883-9370.

The Woodland Hills Branch Library is at 22200 Ventura Boulevard. LAPL lists a parking lot, bicycle rack, public computers, Wi-Fi and wireless printing. Regular hours are Monday/Wednesday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday noon–8 p.m. and Friday/Saturday 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Sunday is closed. The branch number is 818-226-0017. It is a Ventura Boulevard errand, separate from the Warner Center shopping cluster.
