New Brighton State Beach combines a sandy Monterey Bay shoreline with bluffs, trails and a campground in Capitola.

The coastal setting offers opportunities for beachcombing, observing the bay and staying overnight through the state reservation system.
The photograph shows the shoreline during an earlier visit. The visitor center is closed for the season. Check current surf, weather, admission and campground availability before travelling; camping requires separate arrangements. Dogs must remain attended on a short leash, and climbing the unstable cliffs is prohibited. Choose an authorized beach approach and confirm the facilities and accessibility your group needs.
Visitor details reviewed October 25, 2026. Check official visitor information for current access, admission, and operating arrangements. View on OpenStreetMap.
