About Magnolia
Magnolia combines a neighborhood village center and residential streets with public recreation around Magnolia Playfield. Discovery Park occupies a much larger bluff and shoreline landscape in another part of the neighborhood, while Magnolia Park provides a separate Puget Sound viewpoint along Magnolia Boulevard.
Recreation at the west edge of Magnolia Village
Magnolia Community Center stands at 2550 34th Avenue West, on the playfield at the west edge of Magnolia Village. The center was built in 1952 and renovated in 2025.
The adjoining recreation area stretches over several blocks, with fields, play areas and tennis courts. Mounger Pool shares the community-center block and operates seasonally in summer.
Discovery Park’s bluff, forest and shoreline
Discovery Park occupies much of the former Fort Lawton site on Magnolia Bluff. Its 560 acres include meadows, wooded areas, sea cliffs and tidal beaches, giving it a larger and more varied landscape than the neighborhood playfields.
West Point Lighthouse is a shoreline landmark that can be viewed from the South Beach Trail. Seattle Parks lists current trail projects and park information alongside its description of the former military site.
A separate viewpoint along Magnolia Boulevard
Magnolia Park is at 1461 Magnolia Boulevard West, on the bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Trees, picnic sites, a play area and tennis courts occupy this smaller public park.
Seattle Parks offers reservable picnic areas here.
