Junction shops, Alki shoreline and a passenger-boat connection
About West Seattle
West Seattle covers several neighborhoods, with the Alaska Junction’s businesses inland and Alki Beach along the shoreline. The Water Taxi arrives at Seacrest Park on Harbor Avenue SW, connecting this side of Elliott Bay with downtown Seattle’s Pier 50.
The Alaska Junction inland
The Alaska Junction centers on California Avenue SW and SW Alaska Street, with shops, restaurants and other businesses along the surrounding streets. It is one commercial center within the wider West Seattle area.
A Junction address puts the business district nearby; Alki’s beachfront and the Seacrest boat terminal are farther away, down toward the water.
Alki’s beach and waterfront path
Alki Beach Park follows Elliott Bay roughly from 64th Place SW toward Duwamish Head. A paved waterfront path accompanies the beach, with picnic tables and a bathhouse that houses an art studio.
The shoreline opens to views across Puget Sound and toward the Olympic Mountains. Beach activity and the waterfront path give this part of West Seattle a different setting from the Junction’s inland shops.
Arriving at Seacrest by Water Taxi
The West Seattle Water Taxi runs between Pier 50 downtown and Seacrest Dock at 1660 Harbor Avenue SW. The West Seattle landing is in Seacrest Park, rather than at Alki Beach or the Junction.
Metro lists neighborhood shuttle connections from Seacrest toward Alaska Junction, Admiral and Alki. Its route page brings together sailing dates, terminal locations and those onward connections.
