Benjamin Tonsler Park is a busy neighborhood recreation space in Charlottesville, named for a local educator who worked during segregation.

Paths, planted areas and community facilities give it both historical meaning and an active everyday role.
Check current city notices before planning around a court, playground or spray feature. Water play and organized programs can be seasonal or have separate schedules. The photograph shows the park’s entrance sign and spring planting, whose appearance changes through the year. Give other visitors room and arrange reserved picnic or group activities separately.
