SS Meteor in Superior preserves the distinctive low form of a Great Lakes whaleback vessel.

The museum ship connects an unusual approach to cargo transport with the industries and crews that worked across the lakes.
The photograph shows the preserved ship. Check current guided-tour times and seasonal admission through Superior Historic Properties before arriving at Barker’s Island. Shipboard stairs, thresholds and confined areas can affect mobility, so discuss needs beforehand. Other museums run by the same organization have separate locations and access arrangements, and special tours require their own bookings.
