About Edison - Snow
Edison–Snow brings together residential streets around the Ford Homes district and Snow Woods, with Edison and Ten Eyck parks and the Oakwood hospital campus serving different parts of the area.
Ford Homes and Snow Woods are smaller local communities
Edison–Snow is a broad area in south-central Dearborn. Ford Homes and Snow Woods give parts of it more specific local identities. The City lists the Ford Homes association around Park, Military, Gregory, Edison and Francis streets. Snow Woods has separate limits, generally Rotunda, Southfield, Outer Drive and Pelham. A home described as Edison–Snow is not necessarily inside either association’s area.
Historic houses and rental paperwork
The Ford Homes district dates to 1919–1921. Architect Albert Wood used six house designs, placing them at different distances from the curb. The six designs help explain the related house styles along these streets. Original plans and photographs in The Henry Ford’s research guide can help a buyer distinguish historic features from later changes.
For a rental, ask the owner for the City’s Certificate of Occupancy for the specific address. Dearborn’s rental-registration page says the owner must obtain it before listing the home, following inspection and correction of cited violations. The certificate is issued to the owner.
Edison Park for play; Ten Eyck for courts and a track
Edison Park at 2410 Elmdale has play equipment, a ball field and picnic space. Ten Eyck Park at 18541 Pine adds basketball and tennis courts and a walking track. Ten Eyck’s listed outdoor pool is a seasonal facility, rather than a year-round swimming option.
Oakwood appointments can mean different buildings
Oakwood appointments may be at Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital or the Corewell Health Care Center at 18181 Oakwood Boulevard. The care center houses several departments, including rehabilitation and women’s health services. For an appointment, use the building and department on the booking instructions rather than navigating only to “Dearborn Hospital.” The care-center page links its individual departments, which provide their own hours and contact details.
Greenfield Village is a ticketed destination
The Henry Ford’s museum and Greenfield Village are ticketed cultural destinations. The operator requires separate venue tickets, with combinations available; memberships include general admission to the museum and village, while some special events have separate arrangements.
